Llandrindod Wells FC -
In 2018, Llandrindod Wells FC were successful with their application to the FAW for participating in their More than a club (MTAC) initiative. Following the FAW shortlisting process Llandrindod Wells FC were selected for the programme and awarded ‘Focus’ status. This would mean the club would be mentored by Svend Elkjaer of Sports Marketing Network for the 2018/19 season. Following a successful review, this was extended into the 19/20 season.
With the direction and support given to the club throughout the MTAC programme, Llandrindod Wells FC has advanced in many ways. Through setting out a clear improvement plan that could be achieved in small steps, the club has gone from making small change to very quickly achieving unimaginable betterment.
The MTAC officer is Kevin Hughes, who is supported by several committee members that collectively set and deliver MTAC goals.
Committee buy in
With the assistance of Svend Elkjaer and several power point presentations, the club MTAC group were able to gain committee ‘buy in’ into the MTAC initiative to become a more engaging club.

Dog walking event.
This was the first ever planned event under the MTAC initiative. The event was well attended and all money raised was shared by two very worthy charities. The club received very positive feedback from attendees who asked that the event is held again in the future. The club has benefitted from this event by improving club community engagement, opportunity to address the problem of dog fouling on club grounds in an engaging way and more importantly raised the profile of the club no end.
Club Vision, Values and Setting Direction
Through an evaluation session with Svend Elkjaer, the club found the need to set a club vision that would allow all club members to understand what the club aimed to be, what was important to the club and what the club aimed to achieve. This has all been captured in a series of club policy documents that are accessible by all. The club has set short and long term improvement plans.
Support Community Carers Event
The club were approached by a local young carers group (CREDU Carers) seeking some space for outdoor fun event. The club provided their grounds and facilities at no cost and hosted a couple of activities as part of the fun day. It was a pleasure for the club to assist CREDU, who arranged a fantastic event and give the young carers the opportunity to have some fun and forget about the careering responsibilities for that day.

Covid restrictions put a stop to what we were able to do, but the club is looking forward now and making plans for the future. Watch this space!
